Courage Revisited...Again

When I was still writing my first novel, The Pride of Central, and had a separate blog on that book's web site, I had a couple posts about courage.

What does courage mean? What does it look like?

When I first discussed this in 2019, I was looking at courage in terms of writing. Some people felt I was being courageous just in writing a book, even though I felt anything but courageous at the time. Sometime courage is shown as not being afraid of things that other people do fear. Other times, courage is being afraid but acting in spite of our fear.

I have had more people telling me that I've been brave or courageous in writing a second book, The Jewelry of Grace. Some have said that being will to put the years into another novel was a form of bravery. Others have said that making something productive during the pandemic showed courage.

I don't know if I agree. But I also don't know if I disagree either.

So, like I did two years ago, I want to give my readers and followers a chance to answer these questions: what is courage?

Also, has your perspective on courage changed since the pandemic began?

How do either or both of your answers affect the way you approach writing and publishing?

If I receive enough responses, I will share some of them here on The Second Act Blog this summer.
